Weird

I just had a series of life events - and I don't believe in coincidences.

I was coming home from food shopping - a trip which takes me along the Columbia River and past the airport and air national guard base. On my CD player was Bob Dylan's "With God on Our Side" and the verse was this:

But now we got weapons
Of the chemical dust
If fire them we're forced to
Then fire them we must
One push of the button
And a shot the world wide
And you never ask questions
When God's on your side.

At that very moment two F-15s took off - they do that every day but the timing struck me and I teared up. Will we be shooting off those chemical weapons again?

then the last verse played:

So now as I'm leavin'
I'm weary as Hell
The confusion I'm feelin'
Ain't no tongue can tell
The words fill my head
And fall to the floor
If God's on our side
He'll stop the next war

King Shrub thinks he has god in his pocket with a direct line to his head but I agree with Dylan - my god would never do what King Shrub is doing. So who's God is right?
I tend to think it's Dylan's - and mine - our God would stop wars - not start them.

I got home in time to hear Russ Feingold being interviewed and saying that there were some other Dems who are with him on the censure - but where are those many others?

I started crying for my usual reasons - sadness that all of what we did in the 60's to stop the Vietnam war and get rid of Nixon has gone to naught. Here we are repeating history - and what's worse is that all of the admin were around in the 60's as were a lot of the current antiwar protestors.

To quote another song - this one from Pete Seeger:

Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Covered with flowers every one
When will we ever learn?
When will we ever learn?

Let's get going people - if the people lead the leaders will follow. I saw it happen back in the 60's and damn it I'll live to see it happen again.

Russ Feingold

Okay dems - you are either with us or against us. If you do not back Feingold's call for a censure - you are against the American people and you do not deserve to be re-elected. We have enough republican ass kissers in congress now and we do not need any with a D after their name to join in this behavior!

So back Russ or face an angry group of voters in your own party.
