G.B. MofD

Geeze this person in the W.H. can accumulate a lot of alphabet soup behind his name. This week I dub him Master of Disaster - again it's the Medicare D [umb] plan. To use Rummies words they are probably saying "Who knew?"

I find it reprehensible that the press [it's not a main stream media anymore] isn't all over this in a bigger way. Yes they re saying the plan is not working and people are going to hospitals because they can't get their drugs - but I have yet to read a story that lays the full blame on Congress - where it belongs.

Many of us predicted this when the bill was being lobbied thru Congress. But as we are the same people who predicted the mess and insurgency in Iraq and the corruption in Congress, etc. no one reports in a big way what "we" say. But the press loves it when Rummie says
"Who knew?" as if NO ONE KNEW...

My fervent hope for this year is that some reporters grow a backbone and start digging and doing investigative reporting AND that they are allowed to put the stories in print - not like the NYT sitting on a bombshell for a year! And since I got my wish about the repubs imploding just maybe....

Letter to Harry Reid

Senator Reid:

As you can see I am not your immediate constituent but as a American citizen I am writing you to request that the Senate hold off on any discussion of the Alito nomination until AFTER hearings take place on the wiretapping issues.

Justice O'Conner is willing to stay until such time as a replacement is named so there is no rush unless the administration wants Alito on the bench just in case you figure out that Bush is breaking the law and then the "new" court can say "nope - he is the king - Case closed"

Thank you.

It's my country and I want it back!

MBA = Master Blaster of America

Here's a link to an article that lists the shrub's failures: click here

The shrub is a glowing example of what happens when rich bully kids get their way and daddy bails them out and schools give them degrees.... THEY ARE FAILURES

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today is the day we celebrate the life of Dr. King. I took time to listen to the speech I Have a Dream and to read Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence. One can find both by googling the titles. It's amazing and very sad to read them now in 2006 and realize that not much has changed.

This day, coming as it did, the week after the Alito "hearings" makes the discrepancy between where we hoped we were going then and where we are now going so much more awful...

Having been a young adult in the 60's and very aware of and active against the Vietnam war and seeing the country repeat it again is disheartening. The difference for me is that this time around the government is so much more dangerous, so much more corrupt and so much more fascistic and so many fewer peple are willing to stand up and say this.

Where is today's Martin Luther King, Jr.?
