Volunteer Opportunities

There are lots of ways to get involved on the campaign, please sign up today!

Canvassing
This is the best way for us to reach out to voters! Sign up to walk with Nick. Bring a friend and canvass in pairs. Or come out by yourself and meet new people. Whatever you decide, we hope to see you out here soon. Here are our volunteer canvass times:

• Wednesdays | 5-8pm
  
• Saturdays | 10am-2pm
• Sundays | 4-8pm
• If you are interested in canvassing at another time, just let us know

Phone Banking
This is a great way to reach a large number of people. We have weekly phone banks set up to run in Portland and at our office in Troutdale. You can also call from the comfort of your own home! Here are our phone bank times:

• Mondays at DPO Headquarters, 232 NE 9th Ave, Portland | 6-9pm
  
• Tuesdays at our office, 103 E Historic Columbia River HWY, Troutdale | 6-9pm
• Call seniors during the day from our office or from your house
  
• From your home anytime!
  

Neighbor to Neighbor Outreach
Talking to your neighbors is a fantastic way to build support for Nick and a great way to engage your community. Here are several ways to do this:

• Host a coffee. We will give you a list of your neighbors (or you can just knock/call the neighbors you know), knock on their doors and invite them over to meet Nick. If you are interested in hosting an event, please don't hesitate to contact Corie at corie@votefornickkahl.com.
  
• Write letters. Send letters showing your support of Nick to your neighbors. We can provide addresses, info for the letter and stamps.
• Talk with your neighbors. We can give you a list, literature and send you on your way. Knock on some doors and talk to your neighbors about why we need Nick as our next State Representative.
  

Office
We can always use help around the office. Whether it is doing data entry, calling to recruit more volunteers or stuffing envelopes - we can find something for you.

Where is Sarah McCheney?

Seems like JohnMcSameMcBushIII© picked a running mate that exactly matches the current occupant of that position.

She lies, she stonewalls, she has the big DC lawyers come to her rescue in Alaska, oh and she lies, and now? She's nowhere to be seen or heard from..

What's going on? She has canceled her appearance - well someone has canceled them.. Why is she in hiding? Or what is she hiding this time around?

Interesting - maybe she's getting a cram course in history and geography - or maybe she's being outfitted with a non detectable audio device so she knows what to say in her debate with Biden?

Whatever the reason - you know it will be yet another lie [R's just can't help themselves] - like a thunderstorm?

Good grief - if she is afraid of rain or thunder how can she deal with real people who might disagree with her?

My guess? She's off the ticket and they will say "family matters" came up and now we have MR x,y, or z...and how will that play to the women who thought she was a great addition to a flailing campaign? Or is the lobbyist brain trust looking at other more competent women - who forever will be seen as first loser! [my son's terminology for those teams who lose world series or super bowls]

I love politics - it's such fun right now :-)

Attention Oregon Voters

This is probably true in other states as well...but this alert came from the head of the DPO [Democratic Party of Oregon]

Please be alert and report to Trent Lutz [Phone: 503-224-8200] any phone calls, mail etc you or your folks may be receiving that would be misrepresenting their voter registration status, mail ballot [including "absentee ballot questions or information] anything you see that would potentially suppress the vote.

If someone gets a call please have them make note of any caller id info and any please fax any mail to the DPO. [FAX: 503-224-5335]

Please also report any "push" polls--polls that make negative statements trying to obtain a response against a candidate.

DPO has received information about two phone calls from the "Ohio Republican Party" questioning the "status" of the persons absentee ballot--this could be very confusing to new voters who have not participated in Oregon's vote by mail...

We will get all information over to the Protect the Vote team.

The Economic Problem is not Rocket Science

When I was in college - way back in the dark ages :-) - we HAD to take a series of required courses to get a Liberal Arts degree. Maybe it was an elitist education [after all it the then free public city colleges of New York] - but it was felt that college educated people should be aware of the world forces affecting them and putting all that in an historical perspective.

As a student I hated some of those classes - but now as an educated adult - I see that it prepared us to live in the real world.

That said - economics is not my forte..but I have some understanding of the subject from those classes and from living.

So why is it that the American public [and some politicians] seemed unaware that the current economic crises were bound to happen? Had they drunk too much repug kool aid? Are they the same folks who think the shrub is great? do they not know that this was planned by the repugs when they took over our institutions?

And will they vote for more of the same? Just stop and think - John McCain has been in politics for decades - he helped rule over all the mismanagement of the country in that time when the R's were in charge of the White House or Congress.

Republics hate the government as it was designed - so they turned it into the rule of and for the wealthy!

Doesn't take a degree in economics to see what has been done to us...the lobbyists wrote laws that R's and some D's passed which benefited the rich and the hell with the rest of us..

The institutions now in trouble will be bailed out at tax payer expense and no one will be punished for their part in designing this disaster! Too bad real people have to suffer the consequences of all this mismanagement - but you get what you vote for and you get to keep what you have when impeachment is "off the table"!

I would not vote for an R even if we had one party rule!
