More botulism recalls

More canned food is being recalled - this time it is French-cut green beans...Why? Because of botulism..and why botulism? Because the processing is not adequate! Look on your shelves if you eat canned foods...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Consumers should not eat certain brands of French-cut green beans because of concerns they could be tainted with the toxin that causes botulism, U.S. health officials warned on Friday.

The green beans were manufactured by Lakeside Foods Inc. of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and packaged in 14.5-ounce cans, the Food and Drug Administration said.

The FDA said the affected Lakeside French-cut green beans are sold nationwide under the brands Albertson's, Happy Harvest, Best Choice, Food Club, Bogopa, Valu Time, Hill Country Fare, HEB, Laura Lynn, Kroger, No Name, North Pride, Shop N Save, Shoppers Valu, Schnucks, Cub Foods, Dierbergs, Flavorite, IGA, Best Choice and Thrifty Maid.

The warning applies to cans with the following codes:

EAA5247, EAA5257, EAA5267, EAA5277, EAB5247, EAB5257, ECA5207,ECA5217, ECA5227, ECA5297, ECB5207, ECB5217, ECB5227, ECB5307.

Consumers who have the products should dispose of them immediately, the FDA said.

More and more recalls

Is anything safe to eat these days if it comes from a chain store or a big corporation more focused on it's bottom line and not the ultimate consumers? These companies know that the FDA is NOT inspecting most foods - not with this administration in charge - so they cut corners - and who pays? Us!

Here is the latest in what has become a long series of food recalls..these are not even from China - it's people food and dog food from the good old USA via Castleberry Food Company of Augusta, Ga.

From the FDA:
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expanding its July 18 warning to consumers. This expansion is for consumers and pet owners regarding canned food products and dog food produced by Castleberry Food Company of Augusta, Ga., due to the risk of botulinum toxin. Castleberry is expanding the recall to include all of the following canned products with all "best by" and code dates, and FDA is warning consumers not to purchase or eat any of the canned products listed in the table below.

Ah - the more things change...

the more they stay the same...

new day - new warning - same country of origin - same FDA - same lack of concern for people and what they eat

This from the New York Times
F.D.A. Issues Alert on Chinese Seafood

The Food and Drug Administration today issued an alert challenging imports of five major types of farm-raised seafood from China, including shrimp and catfish, because testing found recurrent contamination from carcinogens and antibiotics.

More re pet food and lack of FDA inspectors

Another f..ing unbelieveable!

They knew about the bad pet food on February 20th!

From the CBC website: full story HERE

The investigation is focusing on wheat gluten used at two U.S. plants as the likely source of contamination.

The FDA first learned of a potential problem after receiving complaints on Feb. 20 and followed up by feeding the "cuts and gravy" product to 40 to 50 cats. Of those, seven animals died, said Stephen Sundlof, the FDA's top veterinarian. He added the contamination appeared more deadly to cats than to dogs.

I love my pets and my food is not on the list - and I don't feed pouches and/or wet food to them.

Turns out the the bad stuff most likely comes from two US plants - not the Canadian manufacturer..interesting?

We live in a country where people food is bad and pet food is bade...any connection to an administration that has curtailed inspections of food? Hmmmmm

More that needs investigating - but we know that democrats can multitask and do more than who-knows-how-many investigations at the same time.

FDA food-safety inspections steadily decreasing

By Andrew Bridges and Seth Borenstein

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON — The federal agency that has been front and center in warning the public about tainted spinach and contaminated peanut butter is conducting just half the food-safety inspections it did three years ago.

The cuts by the Food and Drug Administration come despite a barrage of high-profile food recalls.

"We have a food-safety crisis on the horizon," said Michael Doyle, director of the Center for Food Safety at the University of Georgia.

Between 2003 and 2006, FDA food-safety inspections dropped 47 percent, according to a database analysis of federal records by The Associated Press.

Guess we should start asking who knew about all this bad food and when did they know it?

Bad food; bad government

I have posted on my blog grow older better about being careful of what we put in on on our bodies. Cosmetics, skin care products and food are toxic.

So after yesterday's post about more bad food, today's news let me know why we are having bad food - it's because we have a bad government who seems not to care it's citizens.

This is what we have checking the safety of our food supply:

Between 2003 and 2006, FDA food safety inspections dropped 47 percent.

There are 12 percent fewer FDA employees in field offices who concentrate on food issues.

Safety tests for U.S.-produced food have dropped nearly 75 percent, from 9,748 in 2003 to 2,455 last year, according to the agency's own statistics.

Back to my thoughts about do "they" really want most of the USA citizens to die? This comes after a chat with my son about the Iraq mess. "They" seem to want our children to die in Iraq because "they" certainly do not want to take care of returning vets.
And to boot - "they" send our children off to fight without appropriate training or armor - so again I ask - do "they" want USA citizens dead?

My cyncial answr is Yes...and so we must rid OUR government of "them."
