And the wingnuts yammering all over the "tubes" which their fearless leaders don't understand [note - how will they hear you since they don't know how to use the net?] And their problem? They are filled with so much hatred they can not see that 8 years of failed policy led to where we are - they want more failure - in their brain I guess if you hate so much you can't add. Failure plus more failure does not equal success...it adds up to greater failure.

I learned a long time ago that hatred is an emotion that eats away at the one doing the hating in very destructive ways. And if you add that to the wingnut projection syndrome - we will have some very vile commentary coming from the right for the next 4 years.....

I guess when one is so removed from reality it's too long a road back to even try?

Primaries 2008

I don't have a real favorite this year nd honestly - wold be fine with whoever wins the Democratic nomination.

Each nominee has some very good points and each has something that bothers me - but at least I feel I could get behind the ultimate winner.

Given this - I am enjoying watching the processes at work on both sides but more so enjoying the repug side.

Isn't it fun watching them try to out gun, out migrant workers, out Guantanamo, out war, out flip-flop, out conservative and out religious each other. Watching the repug debates is good theater - bad politics - but good theater. The larger repug community is very unhappy with Huckabee winning Iowa - so much so that a top repug would not even mention Huckabee's name : - ). [ahhhhhh...you repugs finally got what you asked for in the last two cycles - so remember - be careful what you wish for because you just might get it]

The Dems are arguing over what change means - that's okay - it's not a sexy argument and doesn't engage me like the repug arguments.

Tomorrow is New Hampshire's day and then the candidates have to run around several states before February -

As a political junkie, I can't wait to see what new high comedy arises after New Hampshire.. for people like me, this is a great season. And I get the football play offs at the same time!

On rats and sinking ships

The king george ship is sinking and the rats are leaving as fast as they can.

Rove is going, Hastert is not running and neither are some other repugs...the announcements are coming at a pretty good clip.

Are they afraid they may never be i the majority the rest of their lives?

And today tony Snow[job] said he was leaving soon - but hey this guy is different and is a bit more honest -
HE SAID NEEDS MORE MONEY - poor baby can't live on a pr salary.

Having lived in D.C. for a long time, I get angry at those who say they can't live on a high Federal salary. Many of the residents of Washington, D.C. make nowhere near that federal salary level and they are expected to live their lives and often with no help from the Federal government - who won't even allow them to have a vote in Congress...yet tell them what laws they are allowed to keep [after a vote passes them] and what money they are allowed to dole out and how....

Most politicians, when they give themselves raises, tell us they need the money as it is expensive to live in D.C. - DUH!
Half a million people call D.C. home and make do with less than your Senator or Representative makes.

So mr snowjob - go back to faux noise and do the rah rah repug thing again while telling us you are fair...but thank you for at least not saying you want to spend more time with your family...[the now boring repug lie....]

A question that has been bugging me

Why are so many repugs now voting with Dems? And why did they not break ranks in the 6 years? Were they subject to extortion? loss of power? what?

Suddenly Congress is able to move ahead of many important issues... they seem to have gotten more done in what? a week? than had gotten done in 6 years.....

So I do wonder why these now "bi-partisan repugs" were so partisan right up to the November elections... I don't trust any of them at all.

Methinks it's all a way to stave off losing in the next election..They are politicians after all - and above all...

Other happy people

Sadly not everyone in the country realizes that the residents of Washington, D.C. do not have voting representation in Congress. There is a Representative but the Repugs say she can't vote. Washington has about 500,000 residents - about the same as Vermont and Wyoming but they do not have anyone to vote on their behalf in Congress. And, in fact, under Repug rule, Washingtonians are subjected to micromanagement from some in Congress.

Imagine if you, in your state, passed some laws that benefited your residents and Congress said - Nope - not allowed to have that law - you must do as we tell you...... Well that's what it's like living in D.C. with Repugs at the helm.....

So the other happy people these days are those half million D.C. residents who will now at least a voting Rep and the probability of sanity in the heads of the committees that oversee D.C.

Back to my first point - I know some otherwise smart people who have asked me how I owned a car when I lived in D.C. - "How do you register a car there? It's not a state." DUH - like anywhere else - you deal with the Motor Vehicle Bureau...

Others have said they don't know why D.C. residents complain about not having Senators or a voting Rep as they are part of Maryland and vote there! Another DUH!

And how about those lists of states in some computer menus...they do not list D.C. more DUH...

So to my friends in D.C. - I know you are happy right now and glad to be out from under the thumbs of the repugs....

Robo Calling

Please please please - if you are in one of the states the repugs are targeting with robo calls - DO NOT believe that the Democratic Candidate is making those calls. That's what the repugs want you to think.

When you have not got a real platform to run on, what do you do? You make endless calls to probable Democratic voters saying this is a message from X [the Dem candidate] and it goes on and on - if you hang up, you get called right back. You get called at
6 AM you get called late at night. You even get called in N.H. where such calling is illegal!!!!!

This is the way the repugs work - they do not care if they lie, cheat or steal - as long as they win...

Their motto? Democracy be damned!
